About KayaClear
KayaClear helps South Africans understand the cost of credit and their rights when debt goes wrong, using the National Credit Act and the Prescription Act. It is part of KayaWise.
Why "KayaClear"?
"Kaya" is South African slang for home. "Clear" is what we aim for twice: clear numbers, so you can see what a loan really costs and whether the charges are within the law, and a clear path out of debt that you plan yourself.
Where our rules come from
Only from official publications: the National Credit Act and its amendments, the National Credit Regulations and the 2015 review of fees and interest rates in the Government Gazette, the Prescription Act on the Department of Justice website, the National Credit Regulator's own pages and brochure, and the repo rate as announced by the South African Reserve Bank and SAnews. Where the law is not settled, the page says so.
